Help Request Complimentary Booklet C.1957 Australia & Dependencies

Hi all,
I have a 7"x 5"card booklet, bound with a blue cord, containing 6 pages of Australia from George VI to Melbourne Olympics, 3 page P.N.G. and 1 each for Norfolk Island and Nauru. The title page states, 'with the compliments of the Director General Post and Telegraphs.'Any help with regards to rarity and value would be much appreciated.

Wow...That was fast! Many thanks to forum users for their kind attention. Especially to 'Aussie_AI' for pictures of the exact same item. I wonder under what circumstances it was given out; presumably a one off? I shall keep my eyes peeled for any more news.

Australia Post "Specimen" Stamp Folders

These were sold by AP from 1913, and the price for most sets for the next 50+ years was £1.

The state GPO philatelic Bureaus all allegedly had them on sale if you asked. In those days there was zero Philatelic mail order to speak of, or any marketing by them, indeed no 'Bulletin' in this era of any kind, so they were largely overlooked.

Each folder contained corner CTO copies of the values up to 5/- in general, and over that they were overprinted "Specimen". (There are exceptions, the 10/- 3rd Wmk perf OS corner CTO is one, but that was NOT the general rule.)

The stamp market worldwide would basically have no used 5/- Bridges in it, if it were not for the 1,000s of CTO copies that appeared in these packs.

The folders opened up, (mostly tri-fold as shown above) and there were lines of glassine strips to house the stamps in .. a little like today's stockbook pages.

The folder was produced to acknowledge Australia's 50th anniversary of membership of the UPU. All stamps are mint and have been lightly hinged to the pages. There are no Specimen or CTO stamps.

I had not seen one until recently and they would be very scarce, but that unfortunately does not always translate into $$$.

There is a post elsewhere dealing with the Specimen folders which needs to be corrected - both the CTO and Specimen stamps could be from anywhere on the sheet, not just the corners.The Post Office practice was to leave the selvedge intact, but even so,full corner selvedge would obviously be quite scarce.Much more information available to any interested party.
