I've always liked the early French issues of Cambodia and Laos before both got wallpapery with their issues. Those big, colorful early issues were always some of my favorites when I started collecting as a wee lad. |

Same here. Buying a Combodia lot recently with thoe lovely pictures of elephants took me back fifty years. They made better wallpaper then!
Edit: Oops! I was thinking of Laos for elephants! |

The lower card shows Laos, not Cambodia. This site apparently shows the full Cambodian set. A couple of the cards show the same CP perfin. http://www.historyrevealed.eu/se-as...-sea078.htmlAn explanation for the punched initials here: " After collecting a full series of cards , the album was submitted to the chocolate company in exchange for a free gift - usually something substantial such as a camera , vanity case or toy . To prevent the cards being re-submitted , these were then perforated with the letters cp and then returned to the collector together with the gift ." https://www.worthpoint.com/worthope...e-1775278113 |

I'd refer to those as "trade cards", rather than Cinderellas, Rod. Perhaps for a different section of your printed matter collection. |

Trade cards it is then. Wow! $180 for full set. ($600 for full album) Amazing information regarding the punched initials. What a highly intelligent and resourceful people we have here. (Myself not included) I missed the Cambodia / Laos difference. Thank you all. Spent some time in Laos, used to renew my Thai Visa at Nong Khai every year. 600 km by bus. zzzzzz |

For collection CAMB p011 Never to be mounted as I stop at 1975 It must have been time intensive work to create all these printed glassines for approvals. |

Rod, great thread I didn't know about hence I started other thread about Cambodia. I glad these cards were rescued from the "flood" and thanks for sharing them. As other members mentioned, they are from Chocolat Pupier Asia album distributed in France during the 1930's. Here all Cambodia cards from the album:
The album cover page: I have also the Chocolat Suchard French Colonies album with cards show Cambodia. Will show other time. BTW, 600$ for an album is too much, I paid for each album about 15-20% of this price. |

Wow! A beautiful set Eli .
I used to love up country Thailand, stunningly beautiful. So different from noisy Bangkok, and the traffic.
Thanks for posting those. |
