I found these in a recent acquisition but cannot find them in Scott. I presume some kind of BOB stamps. Any assistance appreciated.

There is a lot of misinformation about these stamps that have been in the philatelic press for the last 60 years . There is one source at the APS Library that explains them and I photo copied it about 10 years ago and posted it on a chat room but since can't find photo copy in my files .
They were originally issued to raise funds for education but had limited issue for that purpose . Then they were issued at a discount rate to postal employees as part of their pay or salary and attempted to be sold{ some were overprinted RESELLADA which means re-validated} but the public didn't accept them because they didn't have the words for regular postage .
At this point someone figured out they can be sold overseas to the "packet makers" in Europe . That's why they now show up in many starter collections and in mixture lots . The Postal employees ended up selling at a heavy discount and was happy to get rid of them to a exporter who advertised for them .

WAIT A MINUTE ------Those were not leads to a explanation. one lead dances around and tells the history of what the catalogs did , the other lead dances around and goes into color varieties of the stamps . Then reading the WITT pages says PROBABLY issued for revenue purposes .He is not sure because the catalogs listed them . ----Mass confusion from people who don't do actual research .---- Think I had too much coffee this morning ,wired up now .

Hi Wheelman

These are referred to as Escuelas. They are revenues and are not listed in modern Scott catalogs.

For a detailed table listing these, and other revenues, download my table on the cloud: https://app.box.com/s/ehndioafxjk9n...v881ifbl890t

Note: The table is for personal use and may not be published.

For more info about Escuelas see:

In ASOFILCA you may have to search for any articles.

Thanks for posting the page, floortrader! Do you recall the exact source? One of the difficulties I've had over the years in reading up on this is that I can never track down the original source to confirm. Hence, as you noted, a lot of misinformation abounds in the philatelic press, and no citations are available for verification. It would be a great additional help, thanks!
