I came across these on separate occasions. One taken in the middle of the day and one taken under a full moon at night. But if you look closely they're identical in every way except one has been tinted to be a night scene.


The upper postcard was cancelled Majorenhof or Majori 6.7.11. The lower postcard was cancelled TPO Riga-Tuckum 13.5.13 and with a Fellin or Viljandi Estonia receiving cancel 14.5.13.

Perhaps this is some early work by the photo editor who later removed entire human figures from Soviet group photos. When Joe Stalin decided that an individual was a non-person, or was liquidated, his image was edited out of the picture.
