Nigel is correct, it is from Nepal. It's a "handmade" postal card -- I think you will find the edges are either not perfectly straight or 90º corners. Based on the slightly sloped sides of the bottom text tablet, it should be the circa 1887 issue. But the rough printing suggests a worn printing stamp and later production.

There is a thin paper variety, and based on the positioning of the curly braces, I think you do indeed have the thin paper variety. You will have to check.

David, could I trouble you to go back to your OP and edit the thread title to include (ID'ed Nepal). That will facilitate future searches. Thank you!

Your Postal Card used. (although the fleurons / devices in the corners look a little different)

Can you expand please?
I can see Ascher on Google, under "great britain"
and again 1959 and 1980

Is it the postal stationery catalogue every time, or did they produce other issues?
I'd like to source the stationery issue.

Hi Rod,

Ascher published postal stationery catalogues. Here are a number currently on sale mostly dating from around 1928-30:

Hello Nigel,
Thank you.
A bit pricey for moi, my budget would afford > say 25 eur

Anything there you may recommend?
Or would my money be better spent on Barefoot say?

(tough question)

The Ascher "Grosser Ganzsachen-Katalog" [Great Postal Stationary Catalog] was published in two volumes in 1925 and 1928 to cover the postal stationary of the entire world. Still useful, I think, for identifying older issues. My copy is a searchable PDF, not an original or even a hardcopy reprint. I bought it on ebay, cannot remember for how much.

The only other catalog that I am aware of that attempted the same was the Higgins & Gage set of catalogs, initially published starting in 1964 with updates being made until 1986.

The only catalog for postal cards current used by collectors of Nepal is:

"Nepal Postal Stationery" by Dick van der Wateren (2nd Edition)

A collection of Nepal Classic Stamps is here if of interest: http://www.rfrajola.com/nepal/nepal.htm
