Just to stress that, whilst aspects of the Aussie forum leave much to be desired, there is a huge amount of useful information on there!

Yes, but the search tool is awful and the lack of country/region based sub-forms makes the useful information hard to find.

There are no forum hosted images, so they often disappear when people change their Photobucket (or whatever they use) file names or paths.

Searching the forum using Google search works pretty well. Just include the word "site" followed by a colon and the domain name of the site. Which name I am not included as people on this thread seem to not want it mentioned.

I should note that I do read and occasionally post on that site, and have only been scolded by the Sheriff once.

There's a lot of good information there, especially if you collect non-U.S. material, but the board owner is a complete bully and hypocrite. He absolutely loathes Americans and considers them all idiots. He also engages in some shady practices.

It's probably best to just lurk there and utilize the informational aspects of the forum. Posting there with any semblance of common sense or daring to point out his prejudices or hypocrisy runs you the risk of being banned.

It's "big turd in a little bowl" syndrome.

Or, since he benefits from any traffic and has probably done more to harm the hobby then help it, you can avoid going there.

Thanks again for all the tips. I've been "lurking" on that other board to gauge what sort of information is available and whether it's worth exploring in more depth, so we'll see.

ORACLE-----There is a lot of good information there that has been posted by members from around the world . If you use the site it is probably better to stay away from their usual garbage of a chat room . I use the site for news and research and stay away from the politics ,slamming new members ,religion and trolling bs . Lots of stuff I picked up there ended up as written footnotes on my album pages .

I haven't been on that site for a long, long time. I am very happy right here.
