DrGG, have you tried the American First Day Cover Society? You can find them at http://afdcs.org , and I am sure you can get some better info from them!

Hi fellow members.

I'm in the great south land and have a small 1950's gathering of covers. Some have usage to Malaya and also Hong Kong most are unused.
These covers are not in my usual collecting interest but I'd like to share as my knowledge of U.S. is limited. Feel free to comment if anything grabs your attention.

1954 up first.

More to come.

Regards
JC

DrGG:
In response to your question, first, "best" is a value judgment.

The largest U.S.F.D.C. dealer is James T. McCusker and I'm sure he would have an excellent selection of Prexie FDCS.

Several other larger dealers are the Patkins, Doug Weisz, RKA, Tom Baron and there are others. Not near as many as there used to be!

Please keep in mind, when you purchase FDCS from a dealer, the price can sometimes be higher than otherwise expected; due to the costs of doing business, profit, etc...

As with most other things when you can cut out the middle man, there is sometimes a savings. In addition, auctions, trading, shows, etc...can be fun, depending on what you enjoy from the hobby.

I sincerely hope this is of some help. I have no vested interest in any of the businesses/people I have mentioned and I have not done business with them all.

Respectfully submitted:

Blackfish50,

I am collect US FDCs addressed and sent to foreign countries so was very interested to hear about and see that you had some FDCs sent to Malaya and Hong Kong. Let me know if you are interested in repatriating these covers to the US. Thanks.

Thanks for the useful input. I know cachets can be beautiful, but FDCs without them are less expensive. This is true for US 832, 833 and 834.
