Beautiful pages, I like Saar because the often large stamps give a good chance on nice postmnarks.

Rod: The postmarks reads: Verwendet Wohlfahrts briefmarken. Use charity stamps. I do not think in connection to the explosion, but more a general advertising.

I am yet to see a charity stamp from the Saarland.

Typical case of different continents different descriptions. They are probably better known to you as semi postal stamps.

The Volkshilfe kind of stamps.

Seeing the German air post stamps of 1928 and 1932 brought back fond memories. I visited the Saarbrucken airport in the early 1980s when I was a young air traffic controller working in the RAPCON at Ramstein Air Base.
