Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to provide some information regarding the below pair of test stamps.

The stamps are small in size; the overall dimensions are 13 by 17 mm.

I'm pretty sure that they are U.S. stamps, based on the wording, but I have no information about their intended use.

Thanks,

Jim

I am going to borrow you image and forward it to some specialists, but I suspect they have never seen it. Does it have shiny or dull gum? Is it tagged or untagged? On my monitor it looks dark red (perhaps brown red?)- is this correct? If 17 mm tall, then I get about perf 13 1/2, not a gauge that the BEP used.

I've already sent the image to John L. and Terry S., but if you know someone else, please send it off.

The stamp is perf. 12 vertically, the paper is bright white and somewhat thick and stiff, the color is a solid brown (no red tint that I can see).

The gum is neither dry nor wet; it has an odd semi-satin sheen to it. I don't have a UV lamp so no idea about tagging, but I don't see a transparent layer of material on top of the stamp design, which you sometimes see on tagged stamps.

Jim
