Dadgum it. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

I had an eye on a miscellaneous stamp lot on ebay, all sorts of front of book, back of book, side of book, and underneath the book stuff. A hodge podge that up until the last 10 seconds of the auction was at $76.

I ended up being the underbidder at $500. And who should outbid me? Eric Jackson, my ebay nemesis! If there's ever anything neat or has some gems buried in it, if it's not a Buy-It-Now or Best Offer, I can be pretty sure that he will outbid me on it. Sigh.

Only one stock page of the entire lot was really of interest, shown below. Would have made great reference material. Some of the items are incredbly scarce.

I have several of those stamps valued at $500 each in my catalog.

The bottom strip of 4 1/2 is a new royalty stamp altogether.

I would guarantee that Eric's bid was in the multiple thousands.

If their is a Patent License or Royalty stamp that Eric needs for his personal collection you will be hard pressed to beat him!
I have only done it twice myself and both were unknown stamps.

I was watching that lot as well.

Don't collect License stamps, but recognized that page as pure gold!

Shame you didn't get it!

You must know that I have been collecting License & Royalty stamps for more than 50 years now. There are some neat items in this lot that are new to me, no way was it going to get away!

That's the thing when last-second snipes battle; you never really know who else will be bidding. Anyway, congrats. Glad they're going into a specialist's collection.

Makes you wonder how much "undiscovered" material still lurks out there just waiting to be recognized.
