Issued in 2008 to mark the centennial of the Royal Canadian Mint. The 50c was 92.5% silver but the stamp looks like a bronze or copper coin just dug out of the ground buried for a hundred years. Very nicely printed though by Lowe-Martin combining offset/litho with embossing. Canada Scott/Unitrade 2274  The imprint of the embossing is quite clear on back.  The sheet of 16 is well laid out.  |

On September 24, 1976 India issued this 25 paise stamp (Sc #734) in honor of Maharaja Agrasen. A coin is shown on each side of the portrait. From Wikipedia. "Maharaja Agrasen was a legendary king (maharaja) of Agroha (Agra), a city of trading...the Agrawal communities claim descent from him...(He) is known for his compassion in refusing to slaughter animals."  |

On February 3, 1967 New Zealand issued a set of two stamps commemorating the centenary of New Zealand Post Office Savings Bank. The 9d high value (S.G. #844) of this set depicts a half sovereign of 1867 and a commemorative dollar coin.  |

On July 17, 1992 Greece issued a set of seven stamps depicting Ancient Macedonian treasures. The 120 drachma value (Sc #1746) from this set shows a Macedonian tetradrachm from the area's period as a Roman protectorate (158-150 BC).  |

Here is the low value 1.25 kr stamp (Facit #736) from Norway's May 20, 1975 two-stamp set commemorating the centenary of Norwegian currency. Stamp depicts a Norwegian one krone coin of 1875.  |
