I do that rarely because usually I wake up early. But if I sleep during the day I can do it. I like it because at night there is no noise from the street. I enjoy the hobby in total silence or with low volume classical music. Daniel

Arrgh ! never.
I sometimes stay up to bid on North American auctions, and in the morning I am like a bear with a sore tooth. (Keep your distance)
Normally, I get up at 4am, do a 5km walk, stick the coffee on, and settle down for a few hours collecting. Like you I like silence, nice and peaceful.

I may think about stamps if I cannot sleep but never get up to do anything with them. |

I tend to go out like a light, then wake up five hours later, so I often get up for a pot of tea and a ciggie. I have been known to sort a few stamps while huddled over the kitchen table. |

Yes, I do! During daytime my 4 children, spouse, house and the dog require my attention. So in order to get some quality stampy time, in the weekends I often sit until 0500 hrs in the morning, uninterrupted by anything or anyone. And on the weekdays, I am often up at 0530 or so to get some stampy time before the 'noise' start over again. |

Not exactly sleepless nights but I think 11pm to 2am is the ideal time. My wife wont shout at me. I have always been a night-hawk but I think my sleep patterns have changed since I retired....I tend to sleep about five hours at night. And take a few naps during the day. My CAT has me well trained. |

I sometimes find it relaxing to prop myself up in bed and look through one of my albums. It sometimes works better than any sleep medication. |

I can't do it anymore, however, years ago, I would frequently stay up much of the night, sometimes just trying to plate a single stamp. It really allowed me to get the complete focus that I sometimes needed, to plate that really tough patient. |

No problem get plenty of snooze time as my stamps sell in my sleep. I rather dream about something else other than stamps |

I sometimes think of threads I have read, and enjoy pondering on! Instead of counting sheep or stamps, or thinking of my other earthly duties, finally I fall asleep! My grand dog sleeps over several nights a week. |

Blaamand, kudos to you sir. I have one monster right now and time my most scarce resource. I'd like to do some night sessions, but I usually only make it until 10 at night. |

I frequently say goodnight to my wife around 9:00 PM with a "I'll be right along" and all of a sudden it is midnight or later. The only problem with that is my entire working life started at 4 - 5 AM. Five years into retirement and still cannot break the habit. |

Quote: entire working life started at 4 - 5 AM. Five years into retirement and still cannot break the habit. Ah yes, retirement. Like you, I spend my working getting up early. Been retired almost 10 years now, got up this am at 4:45. But it does give me a couple of hours of quiet every morning. |

I always got up at 4AM during my working career (as 'boss' I always felt it important to be first one in and last one out). Now, I have to get up at 4AM because I have to be at dialysis by 5AM. But no worries, I had these shirts made up... So between the sleepless nights, the early mornings, the hours hooked to a dialysis machine, and the hours sitting in a chemo infusion chair; I have plenty of 'quiet' time to work on stamps, the Stamp Smarter site, and helping with this forum.
