Good Day to everyone,
I have noticed a few differences from a normal issue Junker $5 with 200 black surcharge.
The stamp I am concern is the 200.00 black surcharge is placed in an unusual position from other stamps with the same issue. it is clearly stamped on top the last "0". Is this still considered a genuine stamp due to the position of the surcharge? The Chinese writings on both stamps are the same.
I am placing both of the same stamps issued to show the difference for comparison of view. The second stamp is the normal manner of the stamp issued with surcharge.
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

(1. surcharges are off positions on this stamp)

(2. normal position of this genuine stamp)

Is it common for the "2" to be on top of the last zero? Does it make any difference at all where the surcharge is located?

Probably it does not make a difference as long as the distance between the surcharge numbers and 5 surcharge characters are the same on both stamp surcharges.

I do believe that the original intention was to cover the "500" with the overprints "200" in order to more or less obliterate the original value. Both pictured stamps seem to be OK, although the second one seems a bit ink poor.

I was concern since I saw on the Chinese Stamp Society has a forgeries section on their site and one of the 7300 on $25 was printed on top of the 25 on lower left side. They had the photograph of their stamp considering it was a forgery. So in comparison to mine, I wasn't sure if it was a standard rule for all overprints with the numbers on top of the dollars on the second issues Junkers stamps

I was surprised with so many forgeries of the small dragons with red and black surcharges out in the public domain. I double check them against their site, since I don't read Chinese and look at the printing style.
Thank you both so much for your comments. They were helpful.

That is one of the few sites I am aware that has a forgery section site for Chinese Issues Stamps for collectors to be aware what is circulating in the public domain.

It is not "500" but "5.00". This would make this stamp a prime target for forging: Spend 5, stick it through an inkjet and sell it for 200. a nice 40x return.
