Stamps That Are Sealed In Plastic?

Bought a box of misc stamps at a local auction and some of the stamps are sealed in plastic. Cut to fit it seems. Why would someone do this? There's even a bag of the plastic that was used. They say storage envelopes acid free pvc free. Should I take them out? Some are done this way but some are not. Kinda confusing.

I would take them out of the plastic that they were sent in. The reason to send them in wrapped/sealed plastic would be to protect them from weather during transit.

The plastic is probably not appropriate for permanent storage or display unless acid free, which you can't be sure of. There are plenty of other mounting methods to preserve your stamps.
