This is a FDC (first day cover) produced by ArtCraft. Created with the Graceland entrance gate for the Jan.8,1993 release of the Elvis stamp.

Below the illustration of the Graceland entrance gate, the two-line text "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE"//"January 8, 1993 • Memphis, TN 38101" is part of the cancel.

It is postmarked. That fancy looking black ink design of the gate at Graceland with the "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE"//"January 8, 1993 • Memphis, TN 38101" is the postmark. It is a fancy design postmark that was created just for cancelling these stamps for stamp collectors.

As for value, on a really good day you might get as much as $1.00 for it though there is no shortage of these selling in the 50 cents to 75 cents range. The reason is there were countless first day covers like this that were created by dealers and collectors that there is virtually no demand as most everyone who wants one can have as many as they like all day long for less than a dollar each. You can buy them in bulk in the 25 cents each range. And because they are so many of them, the chances that they will ever have a commercial value higher than this is close to zero. On the positive side, though, if you like Elvis and want to collect all kinds of variations of first day covers prepared by many different companies with different cachets then you can do so for very little money. It would be a fun and inexpensive theme to collect.

Thank so much for your replies! I This just ended up in my hands and I was planning to give it to a friend that is a huge fan of The King but wanted to make sure first.

Cheers,

Making a gift of it to someone who is really into the King is a great idea!
