Hi Everyone - I can't seem to find this German Semi-Postal in Scott's catalog. Is it one of those that was printed but not issued? Any background would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi canyoneer. Five million of these got printed. Try looking for it under the Soviet occupation of East Germany.

Scott's listings are a mess. At the beginning of the East Germany semi-postal listings there's a section listing stamps for use in all Russian provinces. It's Scott 10NB3.

Thanks everyone. PostmasterGS - You remind me how old my Scott Catalog is. I see where it should be according to your description but my set must be too old (2008). The 2008 catalogs doesn't include the semi-postal 10NB's numbers just the 10N's.

I think about upgrading my catalogs but I only collect up to 1957 so the 2008 works in most cases. The thought of buying bigger and bigger catalogs that just include stamps I don't collect (>1957) doesn't inspire me. In general, prices are similar with some outliers. Maybe someday there will be a useful digital version of Scott Catalogs but I'm not holding my breath.

canyoneer,

It's in my hard-copy 2005 Scott and in the current electronic versions, so you're likely just looking in the wrong spot.

The 10N issues are listed before the non-semi-postal GDR stamps, while the 10NB are after -- 10N, then just numbers, then 10NB, then NB.

Canyoneer, in the 2008 Scott Volume 3, your stamp #10NB3(23Oct1948) is located on page 235 -- it is the first stamp illustrated in the left-most column.
