I picked up this item from a local dealer with the note, "Short L in Australia ... Listed in Australia Specialized". All I have is the Scott's album and, alas, not listed. Anyway, here is the block and a closeup.

Thanks for the very quick response and documentation. 8x normal value. I'm RICH! (Not!) I'll keep looking for that unique item.

There's still a few out there,

I recall seeing a Postmark "barred 290" on an Victorian stamp, the other day
fetched more than a 5 shilling Bridge stamp >$500 or near to it.

Hi Partime

A very good scan.

In the recent edition of the ACSC (2015); ACSC 334d, the stamp you have has a catalogue value of $40 (mint unhinged) and $30 (mint hinged).

I must admit, your block of 4 is superbly centred, a very nice find.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see the centering once it arrived.

My retirement plan remains to work only as long as necessary. Unfortunately, that date keeps moving. I'll get there in a few years. Until then, my evenings / weekends are busy with philately.
