I think these are for beginners from the 40's but not sure if I should just toss

It is never a good idea to toss stamps - someone always sees value in something. CanadaStamp has a good suggestion!

Agreed.

You can always slip them in an envelope, "Free for you" and slip them in a stamp catalogue at your local library.
