4 penny Kangaroo and Map, mutilated stationery from a 4d Pre printed Registered long envelope.
Cut Square
Stationery fragment

Could be similar to the bottom example (which has been uprated)

Postmark could be "Registered Branch / Launceston" Tasmania

No Australian kangaroo and map were issued imperforate, what you have is a stamp that was a victim to a pair of scissors or a box cutter.

I agree with Rod that it would have been cut from a registered envelope.

Thanks for the great info and taking the time to search. I think you are both on the right track. I did also find there were some "thick, hard ones printed on buff paper.
