Hi

I need assistance. with the new Minkus Global Pages

I have Part I, II, and III of the new Minkus pages and have a problem with Togo. I am trying to put some stamps away for the 1961 - 1962 page which is Minkus numbers 400 to 434.

My part II is supposed to go to 1963 but Togo stops at 1961 and Minkus number 399. It is not in part III either.

Could someone that has Parts II and III, or even just Part II check their Togo pages and see where they end in part II and start in part III.

Thanks very much

John

Hi John

I have the Part I,II,III, as sold by Amos.

Same here. Part II (1953-1963) stops at 1961 Minkus 399.
There is a gap at 400-434, which covers the rest of 1961 and the beginning of 1962.

Part III (1964-67) picks up at 437 (There are no Minkus numbers 435-436 according to the Minkus catalog.)

I suspect one double-sided page is missing.

Could you contact Amos about this? Let me know the results.

BYW, I was working on Nepal, and discovered there is no Nepal coverage in my Part III. Part II ends with 185 on the 1962-63 page. But Part III doesn't have 186 on up (1963-65 page). I know they exist, because I have the pages from an old Minkus! I put the old Minkus pages in.

Hi

I will check my Nepal as well and will contact Amos. It usually takes some time before they get back to you. Once I find out what they say, I will let you know.

I bought new pages because used always had missing ones.

Too bad quality control is so poor these days.

I checked my Nepal and the same situation between Parts II and III.

I checked my older sets and the pages are there as well. If I can pick up albums cheap, I do for exactly these reasons.

I wonder what else may be missing?

I will contact Amos and once I hear back, will post more.

You have to email with problems as can't be done by phone.

If anyone else needs to email about missing pages, their email address is supps@scottonline.com.

I sent my email this morning and it may take some time for them to get back to me as I have done this before.

Thanks for the email link.

I don't know if you are aware, but another issue is the Minkus Part I, II,III (at least mine) did not ship with any Peoples Republic of China (PRC) spaces. Nationalist China (Taiwan), yes.

That was apparently because there never were any PRC pages in Minkus Supreme until later. At least, Amos could not locate any pages for me.

Amos solved the problem by sending me the Minkus specialty album pages for China through 1970.

For what it's worth, some months ago there was a posting on this or another stamp collecting website (offhand, I can't recall which) about a few pages missing from a Scott International album. The post suggested emailing Amos Advantage (Scott) and that they would provide the missing pages. Apparently, after they were first contacted, Scott printed them. I emailed them and later received the pages at no charge to me (with an apology). I have a feeling they won't be surprised if you alert them to pages missing in their Minkus album.

Can you look at Congo, Belgian Congo, and Democratic Republic of Congo as I think there may be a page or pages missing as well from the new compared to my old.

I don't like the way Minkus has all this together so I had trouble following it.

It appears part III starts with number 634 and part II ends with 502 and the years would be 1961 - 1962.

Sorry to say, but that is too many issues in the last few days for what they charge for the pages. How many more missing pages will be found by people that have an old set as well as the new?

Thanks

John

It is difficult to keep track of what is in the Minkus for a country, as each page often covers a wide swath of years. And the next page and the page after etc partially covers those years also.

If one is following with a Scott catalogue, then one will be flipping back and forth between regular, air post, semi-postal, and postage due sections, which are on the same Minkus page.

And for the Congo, between Part I and Part II, there is an overlap of spaces because of redesign of pages between editions.

Given all that, I checked the Scott catalogue (didn't bother with the Minkus catalog), and couldn't find an obvious long lacunae between issue coverage. (There might be short shrift on some overprinted issues, but, after all, the Minkus is a "representational album".)

But, frankly, I probably wouldn't know for sure until I was a actually putting stamps in.

I got a followup message to my yesterday inquiry from Amos..

"Togo - You are correct. It seems to missing a page that covered 400-434 (Minkus numbers) I have found the page deep in the archives. I will have it printed and sent to you next week.

Nepal - The Nepal pages are picked up in MGLV4 (Vol. IV), starting with Minkus Number 186."

So indeed, there is a double-sided page missing for Togo, but they are sending a replacement.

The Nepal pages are apparently in the 1967-70 (Part IV), rather than 1964-66 (Part III). I read somewhere that Minkus would sometimes wait until they had several pages before releasing a supplement for the country. That appears to be the case here.

Overall, I am very pleased with the quick response from Amos.

@jk

Could you check the Philippines as well for page 1962-1963 covering Minkus # 980 - 1017.

It is not in the new Part II or III but is in my old version.

Thanks

John

Thanks, I sent an email to Amos.

This is starting to get a little bit too much for what the pages cost.

@jkjblue

Derek got back to me and said page was found deep in archives and he will send it to me.

Have you emailed him as well as he asked if we were friends that we both contact him about the same issues?

John
