Apologies in advance if this isn't in the right forum, but I'm relatively new here, so that's my excuse! Figured it didn't belong in the "news" section, being from 1894 and all. Still worth a chuckle: "THE STAMP-COLLECTING MANIA: Men of Supposed Sense and Certain Rank Follow This Idiotic Craze."

Full article is at http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstra...&legacy=true but I'll excerpt the very end:

"...Mr. Roberts thinks that the dozen or so of rarities in stamps will soon be absorbed by public institutions, and, mediocrity becoming the bane of collections, the craze will gradually die out."

Guess he's never checked this forum!

Great article. Mr. Roberts obviously knew what he was talking about didn't he... (note sarcasm). Although, I can say that my wife thinks I am a wee bit nuts, she playfully teases me about playing with my wax paper envelopes and tweezers... To which I retort... GLASSINE and TONGS thank you very much!
