Reichspost 10 PF Stamp (Grandfathers Closet)

I found about 60 reichspost 10 pf stamp stacked in a box in my grandfathers closet. I know nothing about stamps. Can anyone tell me about these? All of them have been postmarked and used. Do they pose any value?

My 2011 Scott Catalogue states $1.10 each. However, you would be lucky to get 20 cents for each of them because many of them are readily available in most collections. On the other hand, someone looking at cancels might be interested?? The lot 'might' sell for about $2.00 - sorry they aren't worth more.

Yes, as these are 60 pieces and most of them appear to be on paper and with a nice cancel, you could look for some interesting cancels, especially from other countries (not Germany). And for plate errors, like always :).

If you have no interest, then pass them on, someone, somewhere will enjoy.

I agree post mark are interesting to collect, and I collect some of them, especially the Hungarian cancels on Austrian stamps before 1871, but in no way, I will give money for partial cancel, I purchase only full cancel on covers or pieces of paper, unless it's a very unique one

These 10 pfennig "crown and eagle" stamps are great fun for the Germany specialist. The Deutschland-Spezial catalog lists 11 types by color and printing dates. If you look at them under long wave UV light, you can see the differences. Sometimes cancellation dates help in identification, but to really understand them, you need a reference collection.

Also, there are size varieties, plate flaws, and cancellations. Some people collect the cancellations from areas of their ancestral homeland.

Where would one go to sell any of these stamps?

Personally, I'd scan them so that buyers can see the individual stamps and put them on ebay for $1.99. Perhaps put "Postmark interest" in the title.
