In addition to archives, articles, books, auction catalogs, etc. philatelic exhibits can be a great source for new philatelic information from the exhibitor's research. Unless one is at a show and can read and take notes on an exhibit, it can sometimes be hard to access it since they are not always found online. Thus one may have to email the exhibitor about their exhibit. However, what I am finding lately in some areas is that the exhibit has been made into a pricey for sale booklet which prevents the exhibitor from emailing me anything. I have even encountered an exhibit which used to be shown free online being removed and made into a pricey booklet.

Curiosity has gotten the best of me. Can you give an example(s) of where and when previously available exhibits were withdrawn?

Richard Frajola web site http://www.philamercury.com has many exhibits free for the viewing. Maybe others can name additional resources. I have seen at least three.

Richard hosted the first digital single frame competition last September receiving 96 entries. He plans on hosting another this September.

Digital philately is coming of age with the "Union Catalog" of philatelic library holdings and many club web sites with both exhibits and documents.

I wouldn't worry too much about exhibitions made into booklets that are sold . Those exhibitions are too highly specialized for 99.9 % of us . The owners can never recover the printing cost and mostly likely give his booklet free to friends .
If the owner puts his research and exhibit on-line for free ,they would get more credit for their work to a broader group of collectors . People today are not building research libraries like the past ,now that most information can be found on-line .

jogil, first time I heard of this site. Do you know of any other sites now charging? Is your original comment just based on this one example?

I know Richard Frajola at http://www.philamercury.com welcomes and post digital exhibits. There will be another single frame competition for digital exhibits this fall. Several of the top exhibits last year came from over the ponds. Can we look forward to seeing your entry?

Stamp Smarter has had an open offer to host ANY philatelic resource for several years. In fact, you can even get 'own' and manage your own online section if desired. All for free, of course.
