@Blammand the first link was an error. You are right that it about Large Queens and I should have double checked. So sorry.

All the best,

Thanks Brian - Funny you bring up the Brockville squared cancel, I had already arrived at 1893 as the year of usage in a previous post https://goscf.com/t/26615&whichpage=3
However I was unsure if it had a position dot at 3 o'clock, however that must have been wishful thinking. By studying the paper in 20x and comparing to the others, this stamp (no 8) and the bright yellow (no 7) have by far the lowest quality paper in the group, which establish them definitively as 2nd Ottawa.

Perhaps you can confirm your 35ii is much more orange than the Brockville?

Confirmed. The entire group of stamps in the OP was scanned in one image to ensure the image reflects the colorshades.

On the same note - anybody dare an opinion on the shades of my Early Montreal printings (stamp 2-3-4). Are the differences significant to correspond with the Unitrade #'s I have guessed?

Sulfurization can also appear on stamps of theses colors, further complicating color identification.

littleriverphil - yes,unfortunately
For that reason, my local pharmacy has a bottle of Hydro peroxide waiting for me. Will be exciting to see what happens - the shades differences may get less distinct or the other way around - at least the shades should be restored to original. Peroxide seems helpful for the 1 and 3 cents colors - maybe also for 6c?

It seems odd to me that the sulfurization would only affect yellow, orange, and red. More that we notice it more readily with these colors. I'd imagine it would affect brown inks too.
