Whoa! lovely page S4L !  I am currently working on my first pages, and am finding it a "hard slog" to get comfortable with them. Lots have multiple hinges, bad gum, then they roll up like cigarettes when soaked But what a Pandora's box of Pmks and varieties ! Your "Postal Service" for example Looks like you have a "used abroad" ADEN Pmk (You are also missing the 12 anna ) I think I have the 4 anna green, but it so could be the blue-green (and it has been mutilated) Will post pages in next few weeks. |

so the problem I have is that my India is spread across multiple albums.... trying to get them sorted is a big challenge. |

I tried to respond to Geoffha's comments on Rod's Queen 1/2 Anna stamps (Die I vs. Die II) looks like the other thread got locked...

What a coincidence- yesterday I was looking at some India. I'm use to Scott that's what I started with. But I find myself now using Latest SG India as a cross reference. Learning their format. Seems to be more detailed and more info. |

Indeed, you cannot deny Gibbons for Brit. Commonwealth.
but to employ as your major Catalogue reference.......good luck with that.
I like to use Scott and Steiner, add generic pages for Gibbons varieties
example the 1855 half anna in two shades, etc.

Right, excellent. Found in the debris...... A stunning (albeit badly mutilated Sc#10) Just beautiful CV: $500 / $20 Gives a lovely image of the engraving of Her Majesty. Curiously, to the naked eye, the paper is instantly recognisable as blue, as is the glaze. From the scanner looks white. It fills a space, I would have never filled.  |

Postmarks. FORT SAINT GEORGE is the first English fortress in India, founded in 1644. (Chennai)  DHANBAD RMS (Railway Mail Service) (West Bengal)  Used Abroad : ADEN 8 bar"B" Type 18. 1880-1896 Fairly common, accompanied by a date stamp to identify place of use.  |
