Whoa! lovely page S4L ! I am currently working on my first pages, and am finding it a "hard slog" to get comfortable with them. Lots have multiple hinges, bad gum, then they roll up like cigarettes when soaked But what a Pandora's box of Pmks and varieties ! Your "Postal Service" for example Looks like you have a "used abroad" ADEN Pmk (You are also missing the 12 anna ) I think I have the 4 anna green, but it so could be the blue-green (and it has been mutilated) Will post pages in next few weeks. |

I tried to respond to Geoffha's comments on Rod's Queen 1/2 Anna stamps (Die I vs. Die II) looks like the other thread got locked...
"Die II I notice the eyeball more clearly realized, more point and definition to the nose, better drawn lips - puckered for Albert's attentions, rather than curled to admonish Edward." (Geoff)
Clever! my new favorite stamp description/comparison... and people say stamps are boring! |

Quote: I tried to respond to Geoffha's comments on Rod's Queen 1/2 Anna stamps (Die I vs. Die II) looks like the other thread got locked... If it has, then it is entirely my fault, apologies. It occurred when we lost the ability to search the forum internally. I searched Google India*steiner, and I didn't get a response, (I may have been lazy and used the text string India*stein) So I started a new thread. Ended up a double thread. Apologies to all. |

Quote: Hey Rod - where'd you get the big assortment from? S4L Its a story of World wide collecting. I don't think I have ever paid for an Indian stamp (directly) I purchased Travencore, because I was going to specialise. The Indian stamps came via me buying Chinese stock books of mixed World wide, 10 years ago, I could pick them up for $5 each They just accumulated. I tried (In vain) early on when I was learning, using the Stanley Gibbons India, It proved at the time a real pain, so I put them away in the "too hard" basket. Now I have Scott, I find it a more pleasant pastime, I consult Gibbons just for the varieties. Alan will be getting all my junk leftovers 1,000's I would also be remiss, in not mentioning SCF member "Aussie Al" whom has sent me Kilos of Worldwide (Free) amongst which, no doubt would have been India. |

What a coincidence- yesterday I was looking at some India. I'm use to Scott that's what I started with. But I find myself now using Latest SG India as a cross reference. Learning their format. Seems to be more detailed and more info. |

Indeed, you cannot deny Gibbons for Brit. Commonwealth. but to employ as your major Catalogue reference.......good luck with that.
I like to use Scott and Steiner, add generic pages for Gibbons varieties example the 1855 half anna in two shades, etc.

Right, excellent. Found in the debris...... A stunning (albeit badly mutilated Sc#10) Just beautiful CV: $500 / $20 Gives a lovely image of the engraving of Her Majesty. Curiously, to the naked eye, the paper is instantly recognisable as blue, as is the glaze. From the scanner looks white. It fills a space, I would have never filled. |
