I have added a new Doane discovery from Vermont to my http://vermontpostalhistory.blogspot.com. I purchased it on ebay from one of SCF members, Matt Liebson. I still lack about 10 Doane Post Offices to be complete in Vermont. I don't think I'll ever have completion since 2 of the post offices have unique Doane Examples. If you don't know what a Doane cancel it, the information is also on my blog.

I'm also the editor and publisher of The Vermont Philatelist, the quarterly publication of the Vermont Philatelic Society. The current issue has the cover on the front page. If anyone wishes to receive a copy of the May 2017 issue, email me and I'll send a pdf of the issue.

Yes, I also collect Vermont Flags, unfortunately, I don't have the Northfields and Springfield, but a good friend of mine actually has 1 example of each. They are not in the best of condition but at least he's got them

However, I do have the only known attached rate cover from Springfield. see http://glennestus.com/attachedrates...ngfield.html

Glenn, fantastic news, and I went to the website you gave to check on the county I live in. They never used a Doane cancel in any of our four post offices.
But out of your writings I could not really for sure tell which are the two post offices that you still need.

Petert4522:

I probably wrote my text with a little confusion. What I meant was that no collector will probably have a complete collection of VT Doanes since at least one of the unique examples (East Albany) is in a Historical Society holdings. Here's the Doanes that I currently need: Cady's Falls, East Albany (only one known), East Brighton, East Brookfield, Harvey (2-2), Holland (only 1 known), Leicester, North Wyndham (common but I just don't have a good copy yet), Pearl, Sodom (interesting name), South Dorset, South Randolph, and Sunderland

It's always a pleasure to see a nice cover find a good home. Wish I could remember where I bought it! New Doane cancel discoveries are not all that uncommon (and new EKU/LKU turn up all the time), but some states have much more mature listings than others, depending on how many collectors there are for the state and how diligent those collectors have been in searching large volumes of inexpensive covers to dig these things up.
