Pretty far removed from reality.

(Note: this posting intended for novices to this area, not revenue experts, who are already well aware of this seller).

Look at lot 581. This is MUCH worse, because they were told Eric only charges $15 for one at least 2 weeks before the sale and they let it go up anyway.

Yes that's way worse. Unlike Siegel to do that.

For those not in the "know," these particular strips of stamps were offered just a few years ago, in Matthew Bennett's "National Postal Museum Deaccessioned U.S. Revenues - Part II" sale, held on September 30, 2006.

As you can see below, the strips of stamps sold for basically about $1 each. And 4,000 strips were sold!

Anybody asking much more than what Eric is asking is, well, you figure it out.

Same seller offering a trimmed perforated stamp as an imperf.

Note the residual perforation holes at the bottom.

The shade would give that $10 away as well, guaranteed that it is too dark to be an imperf.

Alas, this dealer is not exactly clueless. Their knowledge base is modest, but it's their moral compass that is the real problem. It spins constantly.

I suppose that the four of them combined are probably worth $20-$25 retail to someone.

redwoodrandy: the seller has removed that item from ebay.

James Drummond: He has also cut his asking prices in half on the two stamps you referenced.

Maybe he's monitoring this thread?

Some dealers' knowledge is limited and they make mistakes. Better to be careful when buying expensive stamps unless you know what you are doing.
