This particular issue has two tagging varieties per Scott. 1. phosphored coated paper with surface tagging showing a solid appearance with plus blocked tagging on overall design 2. overall tagging This is the image under UV. This looks very uniform and clear so I would think it is overall to me since I would expect to see some blocked tagging and the solid appearance is not so uniform.

I agree, your stamp is 3757b. The white lettering is brighter on the 2013 reprint. As I recall this was on plate P6666. Added: I think that my initial call is wrong. I believe the stamp to be 3757. 3757b is on plates P6666 & P7777. 3757 is on plates P1111 thru P5555. The primary clue is the leading edge of the top left separator. On 3757 it slopes down to the left. On 3757b it slopes up to the left. Every plate block that I have examined follows this scheme. I wonder if this might be covered in one of the "Modern Varieties" columns of U.S. Stamp News? |

Hans van Gils covers the difference in his American Design Issues checklist. Below are screen shots from his checklist. If you look at a number of 3757 I have found that the block tagging (the cross hatch pattern)coverage varies. It varies on versions I have from covering the entire surface much like angore's picture to the clock face having no cross hatch pattern on it. For the 3757b I have the overall tagging is not smooth like I have seen it described but a series of clearly defined vertical stripes. What have others seen? |

Thanks. I did not realize he had a checklist for these issues. I will follow up with him as I have been exchanging mails as of late.
From his picture, I have surface tagging version and not the smooth one. |

Hi Angore
Based on some of your posts you seem to collect similar items that I do such as various varieties, tagging, etc. Do you have some method you use to keep track keep track of all of the varieties as Scott doesn't list many. I have a spreadsheet that has gotten very large that I use and add to it as I learn of new varieties. I would have emailed you but systems doesn't allow me to.

mstocky2, I maintain an Excel file based upon Scott numbers for my general US collection and I add additional entries for varieties (like tagging, booklets, year dates, etc) that Scott may mention in the text but does not assign a number. I know they do not mention all tagging, etc. I just add what I see in Scott's and elsewhere and will want to get many of these for my collection. I create replacement pages to add these varieties. My second goal is to photograph them to get high quality images. |

angore, your spreadsheet sounds very similar to mine. I would be interested in collaborating with you but not sure how to contact you directly. As an aside I am aware of Hans' work as I have been reviewing his checklists and providing feedback and additions where I can. |

I sent you an email through the forum. I will note I am not into the PV differences between stamps so I do not track all those like Hans lists. |

Petert4522 provided the correct website. It is in Dutch so here is the exact directions to the checklists.
From the home page Select the USA & Canada pull down, and select USA. On the USA page select New Generation Definitive Issues and that will take you to the various checklists he has posted. He been making numerous updates as of late. He plans more this winter when his free time activities move back inside. |

Hans stated my sample is the the phosphored coated paper with surface tagging showing a solid appearance with plus blocked tagging on overall design.
The solid tagging does not have the cross hatch pattern. |
