I'm still learning to post of these forums without photobucket, but sometimes it drives me nuts trying to figure it out. |

It's the whole resizing that sometimes I get hung up on. Sometimes I breeze right through, but occasionally I hit a snag. It's just a learning curve, but thanks for your offer. Regards, Ron |

I've uploaded all my images directly to SCF, so Photobucket's $400-per-year extortion racket won't affect my stuff here, though I will have to change my image hosting on a couple of other sites. I have a free Photobucket account, and even though they sent me an e-mail about a week ago, telling me to upgrade to restore third-party hosting (which I absolutely won't at that price), they haven't blocked my images yet. |

I have never used photobucket but I have to agree with cjpalermo1964.
I host my own or upload directly to a site as needed. People complain about it being riddled with ads.. ok so they decide to charge... people complain. There's no winning here. Those ads provided income to maintain the system. As well as dues/subscriptions.
That is a business and businesses need to generate income to keep the lights on, employees paid etc.
I don't really see the issue. If you don't like it go get a cheap hosing account and host your own. 40 buck plus per year will get you your own hosting account.
Having said all that, I would hope they'd keep the rates reasonable and that paying customers don't have to put up with an overabundance of ads or throughput problems.

I got the subscription email about ten days ago and paid the annual fee because I have over 5,000 images on Photobucket, virtually all related to my ebay account, ddaannv. The good news for me is that this nudged me to try uploading directly to ebay using their new system, and it works just fine. Perhaps even quicker than using Photobucket. So, I have one year to eliminate my need for PHotobucket, and I'll then delete my PB account. |

Sometimes I want an image to be larger than SCF allows for upload, so I use(d) Photobucket. NOW all of the "special" images here I wanted to stay nice and large so you can all see detail will NO LONGER DISPLAY... isn't that WONDERFUL?? Recently I needed to link to 100 photos of a used vehicle we listed on ebay, and now THAT isn't allowed, either! AND to get around that I tried Flikr, but now I find Craig's List won't allow a link to Flikr... (sigh) Whatever happened to all that free space out there??? Free space from your internet provider, etc etc... And it's not like I need a HUGE MASSIVE SUPER DUPER amount of storage! Photobucket's rates are nuts... I may have to simply use up all the space my website provider has granted me since 2000 that I didn't even know I had. Not as simple to use and access, but at least it is mine and it is already paid for. But what about people WITHOUT a web host? It is great we are allowed to use SCF for hosting images, but sometimes I need to keep an image LARGE for detail. |

I wonder what will happen when, next year, I have only a few hundred remaining eBay-associated images on P-bucket and I do not renew my subscription. I'm guessing they will block ebay from accessing the images and I'll have to scramble to repair those listings using the images that I do have stored on my home computer. |

I'm pissed because I paid for additional storage for a year and now I can't use the main feature I paid for. My linked photos all remain and will until early December when it's time to renew (which I won't) at which time all my images (if not repaired) will be the photobucket missing picture image. |

I use ImageShack. It costs $20 per year. I've uploaded hundreds of images, some very large, for posting here, and on ebay. The price is well worth it to me to not have to deal with image size limits. |

I also used PhotoBucket, paying the extra (I think it's 49 per year) but WILL NOT renew. VERY poor service/marketing/support.
I joined this forum three years ago but only just started posting within the past week, and I have not had any problems DOWNLOADING my own images from my PB account. Until today. Seems even downloading my own pics is no longer supported, I tried different browsers; also use Apple as well as PC products.
I HAVE taken a screenshot and cropped it when I couldn't download so there's always that option. I use a simple editor (Paint, I think it's MS) which lets me easily resize to the max. 600 pixels on longest size. Works for me, for now (I'm not very tech-savvy) |
