I have an Ireland stamp canceled in 1945. The place of cancel is a partial: "...ain Ailbe" Can't ID any place in Ireland ending in the word "Ailbe." (Probably refers to St. Ailbe).
I have the 1988 edition of the Eire Philatelic Association's "A Listing of Irih Postmarks in Gaelic From 1922" and don't find Ailbe in any of the listings there.
Can anyone help me ID this place's Gaelic & English names?
Thank you.

Thank you, FitzjamesHorse.
Cluain Ailbhe is in the EPA booklet. I scanned all the entries in the 81 pages of listings but missed it, probably because I hadn't noted the dot over the B & wasn't expecting the H.
Your help bumps my hoard of postmarks on Ireland stamps up to a total of 902 so far!

Glad I could help.
My 1971 edition of the Eolaí an Phoist (Post Office Guide) places Clonalvy in County Dublin. The village is actually just over the county line in Meath.
often a postal address (in this case Dublin) is different from the geographical location (in this case Meath).
Those of us who collect/collected postmarks have this dilemna with a lot of villages. I always go with geography as it is not just more accurate but it is really what residents prefer.
