I collected strictly British Commonwealth from about 1983 to 2011. That did keep things simple in a way however I hit the wall on what I could add to my KGVI collection. Any missing items were too expensive for me or so scarce that I could never find them. After selling my KGVI collection, I became very interested in definitives from Scandanavia- Norway, Finland, and Denmark in particular. That led to other European countries- France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, etc. I then discovered postage dues, officials, and to a lesser degree air post stamps.
I then wandered over to the Colonies (Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Belgian, French). This past year I have been very focused on French Colonies to include post-independence for some areas (e.g.Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Algeria). Still some gaps in Fr. Colonies to work on. Have most of the Spanish Colonies of interest, but have a long way to go on Dutch Colonies. The sets from 1920's to 1950 are difficult to find intact and not particularly easy to build either.
And after all the roaming, I started back on KGVI and 1950's Elizabethan. Go figure. |
