National Parks - Natural Wonders of Costa Rica



Arenal Volcano is an active stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica, it measures at least 1,630 metres.
Poas Volcano is one of Costa Rica`s largest and most active volcanoes. It rising up to 2,708 m and has two crater lakes.

Gosaukamm funicular, in Upper Austria, designed by Otto Zeiller, engraved by Kurt Leitgeb, and issued by Austria on June 23, 1975 to publicize the 4th International Funicular Congress, held in Vienna, Scott No. 1017.

International Year of Mountains - Monviso



The Monte Viso or Monviso is the highest mountain of the Cottian Alps.
It lies in Italy near the French border and measured 3841 m.

The Wetterhorn (3,692 m), formerly known as Hasle Jungfrau,is a mountain in the Swiss Alps towering above the village of Grindelwald, Switzerland, Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting the Wetterhorn, prnted by photogravure, and issued by Switzerland on December 1, 1931 to benefit children's welfare funds, Scott No. B58, plus a photo of the mountain viewed from a similar angle.

This block of four stamps commemorates 150 years of the Swiss Alpine Club, which promotes tourism in the Alps, but takes care to protect the environment. The small grey fields are old photos. Design: F. Trümpi, 2013.
