Stamp Smarter has published a new database which displays USPO/USPD/USPS forms information. Special thanks to 'hoosierboy' for his time and effort on this project. The database has just been populated and we are still in-process with adding images, many of the early forms are quite interesting and informative.

If anyone has any forms which they would like to contribute please let us know or post them in this thread and we will add them to the project. If anyone would like to regularly contribute, we can set them up to submit new forms and images directly to the database.

Note: The US post office department did not pay close attention to 'documentation control' for many decades. This resulted in duplicate form numbers, revisions which were not controlled, and other anomalies which demand attention.

Hi Don. Hope you are doing well. Great idea with the forms. We need form 3615 in the line-up. 3615 is the form to complete when using precanceled stamps.

If I post directly, are there file size limitation, etc? I have a number of scans already done at 300dpi from other projects, but don't have the time if they require considerable resizing effort.

Hi John,
No size limits, the higher the resolution the better. The tool will upload the high resolution images and automatically generate smaller thumbnails. When users view the pages, they see the thumbnails but when they click on the thumbnail it will open the higher resolution image in a new window.

Do you have a pile of images yet to add so that we should wait until they are done before any scanning duplicating work?
Many forms were greatly revised over the years - is there an interest in showing the iterations of each form?

Morning John and all,

It will be a slower than I wish project to add images of forms I have to this data base. I was only able to get a fraction of the forms David Straight had collected from his estate. Yes, there are many versions of some forms. We do want to include each version or revision in the data base. It will be a challenge to get them all.

John, Don will be emailing you about access privileges so you can add your images. Call or email me direct as needed. Thanks for your contributions.

Best regards, Russ

PS: Peter, thanks for the new form. Making a slot for it in the data base.

Morning all,

Postal forms document the untold story of the internal operations of the postal service. Many of the forms listed in this data base were never seen by folks sending and receiving mail. Used forms were considered scrap paper. Some may have already been lost forever.

This data base contains references to some forms only found so far in postal regulations. Can you an supply an image of one or more of these treasures?

Thanks to all who have submitted information on new forms and images of listed forms so far. Please keep them coming. We have a long way to go.

Best regards, Russ

Thanks to all who have added information to this data base so far. One question that keeps coming up is how best to find out if your item is new to this data base? The best method is to search by title for similar entries.

We are just starting to populate our list of forms with corresponding images.
Many forms especially from the 20th century have several different revised versions. Some are dated but some are not. Please submit an image (front and back) of your item(s) if you do not see it already in the data base. Each version will become a unique item.
