Hi Folks,

Does anyone know who the man is in the background behind Barbara Frum?

Thanks very much, graphis!

Was it a case of recognizing the photo or an article somewhere linking him to the stamp?
If the latter, could you point me to that article, please?

Thanks,
Peter

Renden,

Once you told me that he was the person, I did indeed do a google search but did not find any articles directly saying that he was the person on the stamp.
Which is why I am asking how you connected him with the stamp. Of course, looking at his photo now, it's pretty obvious he is the one but without knowing his name in the beginning how would I connect the photo to him?

Renden,

True, you didn't mention the person - my apologies to both you and graphis.

What I was trying to find out was how graphis linked Ouimet to the stamp since none of the links I can find on the web (including the one he provided) mention that his photo was on the stamp nor did Canada Post mention him in Details or the hardcover book.

Incidentally, note how that stamp, and all the others in the set, is/are un-identifiable without the selvage.

OK...time to come clean...as a retired CBC Radio employee...and over 35 years of working there you get a bit engrained with its history. ..so I knew immediately who it was . BTW Barbara Frum is the mother of David Frum former Bush speechwriter and regular contributor to CNN and other news outlets.

graphis,

Thanks very much for the info! Good to know that my search methods are not entirely incompetent.
