I found this C11 among the stamps I recently received. I just thought that the 1928 idea of "Air Mail Saves Time," replete with what was then a "modern" biplane was a really nice touch. Whether or not it adds to the value of the stamp is immaterial. I just like it and thought I'd share it with you.

By the way, there is black ink on a few of the lower right perfs, which up against the black background makes them seem not to be there. I included a photo of the back, which also has a touch, but less, of black on the reverse of the perfs. All the perfs are there and nicely intact. Smiles to all!

Thanks for sharing. I too enjoy seeing these cancellations on an air mail stamp. It just adds to the email stamp.

Hi

There are different types of this cancel.

By the way, by 1927, the monoplane was able to lift more than its own weight. That made the biplane out of date, but were still used as trainers.

Sometimes you can find this cancel on the back of an envelope which makes it easier to figure out which type of cancel you have.

There are a few different types of these slogans over time, and they were used in dozens if not hundreds of towns, on both Universal and International machines. There is an exhibit of some types of them scanned on the APS website. It's a fun area where examples of the different machines can be found in dollar boxes (or cheaper) but also some very interesting and unusual postal history items can be found with them.

Thank you for posting! I have a Franklin 1 cent with this design on it and could not figure it out. Now I realize it is a plane's wing.

TJA, you're welcome! Somewhere out there in StampLand is your stamp's partner! The other stamp on the envelope that was next to your stamp! That stamp has the missing half of the cancellation! Now, wouldn't that be a challenge to find! --- James

Hi, maybe the missing half of your cancel is also the adjoining stamp from yours.
