Hi TangStamps
PR31, PR55 (unlikely), PR78 are your three choices.
To my eyes Hebe appears to be PR31, but it could just be my old eyes is seeing Red Brown.
Maybe one of the experts might be able to help you.
Good luck with you stamping adventures

Hi stampmaster, Thanks for your reply. I am also debating between PR31 and PR78. By looking at the items on ebay, it appears that each one has different shades, which makes it a little difficult to make a call. |

@perf12
I agree. That's why I said that it seems that there are multiple shades maybe because of aging? But his stamp does not look like a counterfeit either. |

Hi TangStamps, teach me what to exactly look for with counterfeit newspaper stamps, (Not the larger one).
Can you scan images with descriptions what to look for? How about the paper and watermarks etc. and etc.

When I said that it does not look like a counterfeit, I meant that the quality looks decent, the color, the printing, the paper and the perf. But I am not sure about the genuineness of the stamp. |

Hi Tangstamps, would it be possible to see a scan of the reverse side?

Impossible to tell from a scan; shade is important as is paper. Neither can be told from a scan. |

PR31 and PR78 are on two different papers. PR31 is on a thinner and somewhat translucent paper showing little or no mesh. PR78 is a thicker and more opaque paper showing mesh (moderate to heavy depending on the printing). |

The perfs look more like thin paper perfs should look, but they don't automatically have to be. |

It's also possible that this is a proof with added perforations. As I wrote earlier, it needs to be examined in hand. |

Based on a dark scan of the front only, it is impossible to determine the paper. Even with a scan of the reverse it may not be possible, but would it would be easier. Why not back light your stamp with a strong light and see if you can find mesh? When you put it in fluid are there any white fibers visible or significant unevenness in the paper such several light and dark areas? |
