I acquired this cover for my Stamp Dealer Covers collection and for its "philatelic mail" sticker and am wondering if any Chicago area collectors know if the Chicago Lawn Station is still operating, where it is in the city, and the origin of its name?

Thanks.

Don

Amazing! It takes a guy from down under to let us know about a website called wikipedia. Thank you, Rodney.
By the way, the post office is still open. Address is 6037 S.Kedzie Chicago IL 60629.

Thanks Peter.

I share Don's homing in of the etiquette.
Why does the simple addition of an indicia, make a cover that much more appealing

Rodnay and Peter:

Interesting Wikipedia article. Thanks Rodney, good information. Thanks, too Peter, for the current location of Chicago Lawn Station.

When checking Google maps, it looks like Vargo Stamps operated from a two-story duplex about 9 blocks east and 1 1/2 blocks south of Chicago Lawn Station. Probably a part-time dealer operating out of his home. See link below.
