At the Columbia show yesterday I came across a stock book full of first issue revenues. I didn't see any silks and no plate varieties, usually what I'm looking to cherry pick. All of the revenues were uncanceled.

This stock book was made up of all under $1 revenues. I picked out about half of the stamps in the stock book, paid $30 for about 120, or 25c per stamp. I picked the really well centered copies, about a third of which are mint hinged original gum.

I can't wait to add all the shade varieties to my collection. I'm working to put all my cancels in a separate collection. My question is this, since Scott doesn't value OG revenues, what is the value of copies like this? Do you generally figure a multiplier? 2x? 3x?

Actually, there was one really nice OG R18c, so it throws the average cost per stamp off a bit.

Depends on the collector. For mint full OG you should be able to get $5-15 on ebay. Collectors of mint 1st issue revenues are few and far between though; very narrow market.

Nice stamp, southpaw. Even though good cancels are my number one choice, mint or even simply unused first issue revenues can be very attractive, IMO. And if they're well-centered and really cheap? I usually can't pass them up!
