Hawaii Islands Number 75 Double Transfers

For the new stamp collectors, if you do not have any double transfers yet and would like to add a few to your collection, one way would be to start with Hawaii Islands (HI) number 75. This issue in question has many, many easy to identify double transfers. HI early stamp collectors also have an interest in town cancels. Sometimes you can find desirable town cancels along with double transfers on the same stamp.

Just a thoughts of an old stamp collector.

Some other easy ones are R27c and R78c of the first issue revenues.

Hi revcollector, yes, R27c and R78c very easy to find.

I always look for Pick Up Points (PUP), some of which are "letters", blurred image, slanted images of the design, face value figures, etc, and etc. PUP is just a starting place. One thing I do is to become familiar with each stamp design. I get to know the design very closely. That way when looking at a dealers stock book, the varieties just sort of jump out at me.

I love discovering unrecognized varieties, fun.

My PUP are in no way the only things I look for but they have served me very nicely over many years.

I expect everyone interested in varieties use their own unique to make discoveries.

I collect double transfers and foreign entries. I often find them by knowing where to look, but I am also very familiar with the general look of most US designs.

Revcollector, that makes it really easy to find all sorts of varieties.

I especially enjoy finding foreign entries in dealer stocks that are unrecognized! Few and far between, but still fun!

I have found a few, usually on the 60 cent second and third issues. I have also found any number of double transfers that went unnoticed.

revcollector, yes the 60 cent 2nd & 3rd issue with the 70 cent foreign design transfers are seen on ebay once in a while and are unrecognized by seller.

Have found the $1.50 foreign design transfer at a stamp show unrecognized, picked it up real cheap.

Another cheap area is the Battleship 1898 Revenue Series, have found many double transfer and other varieties, many go unrecognized by the sellers.

Lots of fun to find these and others as well.

Thank you for your suggestion to look at Hawaii Scott #75 for double transfers. Since reading your post, I found a few error transfers in my Hawaii collection, and have acquired hundreds more. My ambition has gone far beyond adding a few error transfers to my collection to, hopefully, plating at least one pane of this issue.

I'd like to know what the extent of your Hawaii #75 collection is, as well as that of anyone else who is collecting Hawaii #75 error transfers. I'd like to share images with anyone else who is collecting/plating this issue. Ultimately, I'd like to contribute to building an online plating database similar to the Stamp Smarter database for the U.S. 1851-57 3-cent imperforates.

It's hard to be sure from your images, but I believe you may have three copies of plate position LL39I there. Here is a 2400-DPI scan of the error transfer on LL39I for other readers to see just how dramatic they can be on #75:
