Hi Guys,
I am very new to the site but and am getting very much into the history of where our letters and cards come from/to. I am sure like all collectors we spend hours trying to figure out who wrote the card/letter and to whom. Anyway without dribbling on I got a great response within a day after asking the Smithsonian for some help with a possible staff member from 1929 who wrote back to a person who submitted a shell. Bottom line Smithsonian was a great help and I just thought it was worth a mention.
Thanks
Jeff
This is the card I was getting info on.

Note from Deborah at the Smithsonian.
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the name on a Smithsonian postcard.
Is it possible the name is "Willoughby"? Our internal database of Smithsonian employees indicates that Marion Frances Willoughby served as senior scientific aid in the Division of Stratigraphic Paleontology between 1938 and 1943. She may have been employed in 1929, as well.
I have attached Ms. Willoughby's 1952 obituary, which appeared in the Washington Post.
I hope this information is helpful; please let me know of any other questions.
Sincerely,
Deborah Shapiro
She also included a newspaper clipping...

Thanks
Jeff
