Can anyone give me info on a stamp dealer, collector or appraiser in the Pittsburgh PA area. Am trying to sell a collection of first day issue stamps.

Would these be first day of issue covers? Stamps on envelopes.

If so, how many and what years? U.S.?

Are they addressed?

Are they produced by any particular company?

Do they have a cachet? A design on the left side of the cover/envelope.

You have a nice stamp club in your area that is extremely helpful and meets just outside of Monroeville, I would talk to them.

I also am trying to sell a collection of First Day of Issue covers.

Years range from 1890's to 2012.
Year; Estimate amount
1890's; 2
1930's; 10
1940's; 10
1960's; 20
1970's; 30
1980's; 30
1990's; 400
2000-2004; 800
2005-2007; 1200
2008-2012; 1200

About 99% are not addressed, but the older ones are.
More than half have cachet designs on them. Many of those are ArtCraft designs.

I was offered $50 for them, but I turned it down. What are your thoughts?

I would love to see the First Day of Issue from 1890's. Those would be quite special.

For the others, depending on cache, address, etc., I have seen prices range from 5 cents each in bulk to 50 cents each when sold individually, though that is even a little high. $50 sounds a little low for that quantity. Once you get to 50 posts, you can try to offer them for sale here.

Correction: remove the 2 from 1890's they are not FDC just regular covers.

You are right that would be something to have a FDC from the 1890's
