Hi all, here is a Department of the Interior letter with an indication notice to the "Postmaster", maybe someone would find this interesting.

Stampmaster,

That is a neat cover.

The scan resolution is a little rough, hard to read even zooming the browser. Could you add a transcription to the post, so everyone can read the complete text?

I read it okay. Sure, it is "rough," but still readable. Paraphrase: Don't deliver if addressee has died or moved, or if a widow has remarried, or if the pensioner is believed to have reenlisted.

blcjr,

Thanks for the info.

Maybe my eyes are "rougher" than I thought. Keep putting off those reading glasses, but I know they're coming.

Switched over to the iPad pro and it's much more legible.

I'm sure local postmasters loved acting as enforcers for the Bureau of Pensions. "Hey Wally, I just looked through my mail, and my pension check still isn't here!" "Sorry, Sally, but last Saturday night I saw you walking out with Billy Jones, and everyone says you remarried to him, so we returned the check." "Wally, you numbskull, he was just ... you know ... visiting."
