Hello all, I was given this picture postcard by a friend of my relatives in Canada. It is from Hobbitcon in New Zealand. I would welcome any info about this kind of item- if it has any value if it's legit etc. Jamie *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Hi, maybe I'm extra dense today, but I have no idea what you are asking about?

Quote: Hi, maybe I'm extra dense today, but I have no idea what you are asking about? Looks like it has a stamp at upper left with a cancel. I took the OP to be asking if this is a legitimate FDC or event cover. It would have helped, maybe, to also have a scan of the other side. Without knowing more, estimating value is impossible. |

Well, there is what appears to be a stamp in the upper-left corner of the postcard, but the image is not very detailed and I am not familiar enough with the New Zealand Hobbit stamps to say if this one one of them.
But postcard with a stamp on the picture side, where the two images are related to each other, would be, loosely speaking, a Maximum Card. Collectable, but probably not particularly valuable. |

I thought of "Maximum Card" also. I also agree that it would be collectible, but probably not high value. I think more needs to be known about the stamp, and the circumstances of the cancel (e.g. FDC vs. event). |

Quote: I am just curious what MNH means for that seller... MNH = A common Australian Philatelic acronym : "Mint, Never Hinged" |

Hi Rod, I think filipo means that the stamps have been adhered to the maximum card so they cannot be considered MNH. Don |

I apologize stampmaster - I wasn't very specific about my question. I was simply asking if it was philatelic material or if it was just a promotional/fake kind of thing. |

Quote: I was simply asking if it was philatelic material or if it was just a promotional/fake kind of thing. I don't know about the UK (or Oz or NZ, for that matter) but here in the US some reserve the term "philatelic material" for anything that is not "normal" postal usage. Seeing the backside now this is no doubt "philatelic" no matter how the term is used. But since I cannot discern a date of cancel, I don't know that it is an FDC. However, the two stamps, front and back, are from the set pictured on the following FDC, and it looks like it has the same "pictoral" cancellation on the front (but not on the back): |
