That sure is a nice view of the table top. I assume it's included, because the seller didn't even bother to depict the other two stamps in the set.

Now is that a food smudge in the flash glare or a reflection of the person's head?

I've seen expensive coins imaged in similar fashion then posted at 150 or 200 dpi. Gotta love it

Seriously, what's wrong with someone who would think this is how to sell anything on ebay? You'd think common sense would tell anyone this makes a dumb listing.

Sadly, no, the true limits of a profoundly dumb listing have not yet been established.

Whatever ridiculous item can be shown, there is another that is even worse. See below (the image has not been modified; it really is that blurry).

I think this listing fits well into this discussion:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Us-Stamp-Ge...AOSw-uVZlxjg

Then this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EP-FDC-1-TH...AOSwQJhUiIqW

The second item is perhaps worth a few bucks, signed by Priscilla Presley- but no way is it deserving of the accolades the seller is trying to hang on it.

I have been inspired- I think I will go through my shoe boxes and find ratty things and put them out there with a huge price. Who knows?

The seller's description on this last lot says, "...they are not completely soaked off the paper."

Hmmm. Good luck with these.

All perfect reasons why I don't deal with ebay. I've never bought from there, and probably never will.

Despite all the issues like you see above and all the other weird, idiotic or blatant ripoffs one may see on ebay and other onlines sites, there are plenty of great dealers on ebay. You just need to take the time to find them. In fact many of the dealers you may buy from at stamp shows also sell on ebay (especially as show attendance dwindles).

Hi all, I really like these deals on ebay, because some people pay attention to them, while I spend my time finding many good items on ebay!

Unrecognized varieties by sellers who do not know what they have.

Misidentified stamps, by sellers who have misidentified the item.

On a rare occasion, if I'm lucky, can pick up some item from ebay for very little. Does not happen often, maybe once or twice every couple of months.

Here's a novel way to package stamps. Appeals to the coin collector community.
