Hi

What information are you looking for?

I found the below item on ebay, if you're looking for the one stamp's location.

Are you asking what are the stamps worth, or??

Jim

p.s. The brother's names were O. M. Wolgamot and R. B. Wolgamot.

Yes, I found this info about Wolgamot, and in Scott Specialized there is different data and value on Eli Lilly- number RJA26 R22. Yes, I am looking for the value and catalogue number on both stamps. I appreciate your help. If there is no catalogue number, I am new to this hobby (collection is from parents).

Hi,

Your two stamps are RJA33 and RJA34. Their catalog values are minimal, just a dollar or so for each.

That being said, the two cancels on your stamps are worth a premium to specialist collectors (and some dealers), such as myself.

For example, I would value your Lilly cancel at $5, and the other I would willingly pay $20 for.

RJA26 looks like the one shown below. In fact, RJA26 has ONLY the date shown. Compare your Lilly to the image.

Hope that this helps.

Jim

The Eli Lilly cancel on RJA34 is quite common. August, 1919 was the beginning for companies to include their registration number(s) in their cancellation. I believe that Lilly's registration numbers are 113 and 363. Whether they are separate facilities or one is their manufacturing registration number and the other is a wholesale registration number I do not know.

In theory, every pharmacy that had narcotic preparations on hand at the end of February, 1919, when the tax became effective, had to purchase and apply stamps to all their stock on hand. If they were compounding narcotic preparations, they would also have had to apply narcotic tax stamps to their preparations. Either of these scenarios could have been the reason for the cancel on your RJA33.
