A reminder to everyone that nominations are open (as they are year-round) for the APS' Nicholas Carter Volunteer Recognition Awards, which will next be given at the APS StampShow in Columbus in August 2018.

More details are on the APS website (https://stamps.org/Volunteer-Recognition-Awards), but generally speaking there are four categories of awards: national service (national organizations, large WSP shows, other broad-reaching service), local service (think club and show service, etc.), Outstanding Young Adult Philatelist (ages 25-40) and Outstanding Young Philatelist (ages 15-24). Award winners need to have at least 5 years of volunteer service to philately (except for the young philatelist, which is 3 years). Anyone can make a nomination; award winners do NOT need to be APS members to be eligible.

Nomination deadline is December 15. Please help out the Carter Awards subcommittee (which I head) in identifying candidates! The nomination form is available as a PDF at:
https://stamps.org/userfiles/file/a...teerForm.pdf

Any questions, please ask (or let me know directly). Thanks in advance!

I would generally view that as national service. The committee views applications in their totality and does from time to time modify categories from how the nomination was presented.
