It looks like the ink could have been scraped off. In person, with a magnifier, does it look like it has abrasions?

It very much looks to me like a simple scraping of the stamp at some point in time after it was used and canceled. There appear to be directional white scrapes in the black cancelation bars over where the white areas of the stamp are.
