Wanted To Buy ...scott Specialized Color Guides For US Stamps

I cannot find this anywhere, has anyone got one they would like to sell..or donate to a pensioner like me?
postage would be to Australia and I'm happy to pay for that, I also have a lot of RPO and APO covers I would be happy to trade!

I don't have a Scott catalog, but I have something similar published by the US Postal Service called, "The Postal Service Guide to U.S. Stamps." It has some of the same catalog values as the Scott. What are you are you trying to identify?

But since looking for the colour guide, I noticed some are $600!

You've posted high quality images of covers recently here, so why not post the stamps you have concerns about? Best to post ones of the same design together to help with comparison online. You might prefer to do it yourself, though.

Anyone know who worked on the Scott color guide? I've never seen it, would like to know how useful this might be.

I thought of that but its knowing the difference say between pink, rose and pigeon blood on the 65's I have, my SG colour guide doesn't even have pink! its pretty old

Dutch US Stamp Collector...that is exactly the one I want but its out of stock!

your local book store should be able to oder it with the 2 numbers that I mentioned in my 1st post.

A reminder that there's quite a range of shades in many cases, i.e, you're not necessarily going to get a perfect match. Pigeon Bloods are quite rare, a very garish pink with a tinge of blue. Easy enough to get a rare enough pink and mistake it for a Pigeon Blood. Pigeon Bloods are suspected to have faded into pinks over time, those fading into rose pink shades. By what I see on the sample page in the ad link above, it won't tell you at what point pinks and rose pinks separate, or where rose pinks and brighter rose shades separate. I think that's an important question but I suppose it's left up to the expertisers to decide that in the end.

You may already have found color names are different by different schemes. SG's fan-type color key has a pink that is not the Scott #64 pink. SG violet is Scott purple and vice versa. So yeah, I can see why you'd want the book.

Thanks Hy Brasil I figure that going with a Scott colour guide would be closest to USA stamps, the same as specialized catalogue is the "go to" book for USA values
