Dear Stamp Community Family

Here I have four advertising stamps of the World Federation of Animal Friends 1927 e. V. (e.V. means registered association).

Frank Wedde, an animal teacher, made a lecture trip through Germany in favour of the mountain rescue service. The imperial eagle Yank, who accompanied him, was presented as a gift to General Eisenhower in Heidelberg in 1946. The general entrusted Wedde with the care of the eagle, who had hypnotised the eagle. Yank was 9 years old, his wingspan was 206 cm, and he reached up to 4000 meters on his wings.

Similar advertising stamps are also available with the inscription Hamburg instead of Berlin.

Does anyone know when they were issued? In terms of quality, I would rather say that it was in the 1950s than in the late 1940s.

Thanks for any hint.

Best regards from Switzerland

André

Greetings Andre! I just examined my "Yank" labels. They are the Hamburg variety of different designs. The paper fluoresces under long wave ultraviolet light, so it appears that they are printed on paper with optical brighteners. This suggests that they were printed somewhere in the 1958-1962 range. This is my guess.
