It is like playing whack-a-mole but the following Cartel/ Philip Ryle accounts are shut down:
bargain-discount-deals best-low-prices collect04 pan_pacific
Stampdeals and xfstamps are active but not for long. Every time one pops up it will be scrutinized and acted upon.

Can you explain to the un educated what it's all about? Were they selling forgeries? |

Hello RobRoy - Where to start. The best thing to do would be to use the search function and punch in "cartel" and/or Philip Ryle. It is a very long saga of philatelic treachery on the part of an individual named Philip Ryle and ebay that goes back years. Forged and altered stamps and certificates, shill bidding and the list goes on. |

I have a feeling that this topic will be moved to "sale promotion" forum, where I shared my experience with another "outstanding" dealer. |

There are a few other cartel ID's not mentioned here. I have actually bought a dozen things from them in the past few months - but you have to be careful. If it helps your crusade - when they ship the return address is always: 50 Division St Ste501 Somerville NJ 08876 (aka: Tracing Your Path Hypnotherapy 50 Division St Ste 501, Somerville, NJ 08876 (732) 595-2370) |

ebay could care less about what goes on so long as they get the almighty fee revenue. They are well aware of the Cartel and others like the cartel and the silly red line error listings and on and on. |

Chasa --if you consider this bad material, why did you purchase 12 items over the past few months? Was the material good or bad? |

I don't think he said it was bad material. Say what you want but the cartels do offer some grade A material, now whether your moral compass is pointing towards not doing business with or supporting their business is the buyers prerogative. Most of us on a daily basis support sleazy companies like Walmart, BP petroleum, Nike using 14 year old Guatemalans to make shoes for 5 Quetzals a month, whatever. I'm neither here nor there on whether or not to buy from the cartel and I personally haven't but that's probably due more to my budget than anything. Financially you just need to decide if it's worth the risk. |

I beg to disagree. This is not Walmart. They absolutely do sell faked material - NH stamps that are not NH. I have personal experience. But the most common feature is shill bidding. Go ahead and buy if you want, but even if it is a good item, you will pay top dollar. They guarantee that by using shill bids to bid against you.
Walmart, BP, Nike - not even close. This is fraud. |

Lumping Walmart and company with the Cartel. Not sure what to say to that one. Wow. |

What I bought was good and I am happy to have made the deals. They do sell some things not available anyplace else. They take their eye off the ball and can make mistakes in the buyer's favor sometimes. They did pull a fast one on me, but I chose to consider it more humorous than criminal. Oh, and I have won everything at their minimum bid, never a hint of shill bidding on my lots.

Yeah, they make mistakes in the buyers favor sometimes. Philip Ryle is really kinda an OK guy if you overlook his prison time for selling counterfeit passports and some other minor things. Oh, and the criminal conspiracy he engages in on a daily basis on ebay such as "selling" the same rare stamp over and over and over under different IDs. Misunderstood is all. Bargains to be had and he has material that is hard to find. |

Every ebay lot in classic U.S. that I have ever looked at that was being sold by a "cartel" account was at the very least misrepresented. Any legit items in these lots are lower value stamps that are being used for window dressing to boost the image of the lots; the high value rare stamps in these lots are not real or are faulty. The best thing I can say about Mr. Ryle is that he can spin very good yarns and some of them are real whoppers. The intent to defraud seems evident to me. |
